The title of this video comes from the name of the Hindu god of the earth. I created this project for VCT 3690. My assignment to create a PSA. I decided to use time lapses to serve as a back drop for a rant from the earth to humans. All of the time lapses were done in Toledo, Ohio (for the urban areas) and Grand Rapids, Ohio (nature shots). I then used to cinema 4d to create the earth from outer space along with the moon. To bring home a message I used a simple quote by Ghandi.

On the 40th anniversary of the famous ‘Blue Marble’ photograph taken of Earth from space, Planetary Collective presents a short film documenting astronauts’ life-changing stories of seeing the Earth from the outside – a perspective-altering experience often described as the Overview Effect.
The Overview Effect, first described by author Frank White in 1987, is an experience that transforms astronauts’ perspective of the planet and mankind’s place upon it. Common features of the experience are a feeling of awe for the planet, a profound understanding of the interconnection of all life, and a renewed sense of responsibility for taking care of the environment.
‘Overview’ is a short film that explores this phenomenon through interviews with five astronauts who have experienced the Overview Effect. The film also features insights from commentators and thinkers on the wider implications and importance of this understanding for society, and our relationship to the environment.

Just to clear it up at 1:30 into the film, that shot is a moon rise, not a sun rise as some people have asked.
Photographed over the course of three weeks in Johannisholm, Sweden. Dec 2012 – Jan 2013
With the sun setting around 3-4 pm each evening, this gave alot of opportunities to shoot at night.
Most of the time it would be waiting for just the right weather conditions, to capture the moon rise, and the Aurora.
Shot with the Canon 5D Mark 3, 60D and 550D. 100% RAW
Cast: Leigh Bloomfield and Torpedo Factory Films

Terra Sacra Time Lapses is a short film featuring remote landscapes and ancient monuments from around the globe. These images were photographed during my assignments and personal travels between 2006-2012.
I’ve combined my favourite shots from these trips into non-narrative film that touches on a theme close to my heart: Sacred Earth.
