Lust for More – A journey through Asia

Lust for More – A journey through Asia

This is a video of my 4 month backpack trip through S/E Asia. We visited Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Singapore. I was completely inexperienced when it comes to film making, I got in to it through the love for photography I’ve been developing over the past few years. I’ve had a lot of fun filming it, going through the footage and finally editing it! Longing already for the next trip.

Vietnam Cycle Challenge

Vietnam Cycle Challenge

Ozge stepped out of her comfort zone to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK by embarking on a 450km cycle challenge from the North to the South of Vietnam. This is a visual memoir depicting her 10 day journey.

Her fundraising events caught a lot of attention in Milton Keynes – with a short interview aired on ITV News: itv.com/news/anglia/update/2013-08-19/cyclist-to-ride-length-of-vietnam-for-alzheimers-charity/

Her cycle challenge is over, but donations for Alzheimer’s Research UK are still accepted and appreciated 🙂

Backpackers – chapter II: CAMBODIA

Backpackers – chapter II: CAMBODIA

BACKPACKERS:
2 boys. 3 countries. 23 days.

Chapter II: CAMBODIA
We arrived in Phnom Penh by boat through the Mekong River and we spent about 8 days going up the country till Battambang, via Siem Reap.
Cambodia is fantastic and really varied: we moved from completely uncivilized areas to touristic places full of charm, like the archaeological site of Angkor, structures that leave you totally breathless.
This is ‘my’ Cambodia.

Hoi An – Ancient Town

Hoi An – Ancient Town

Each morning the dawn calm of Hoi An, Vietnam, disappears in a frenzy of activity. Whether it’s conical hatted ladies conducting million-dong-deals or school girls in their perfect white Ao Dai uniforms commuting four-to-a-bicycle, Hoi An is a place full of life… That is, until about 9pm each day when the bustling streets empty and calm returns.

Hoi An has effectively been preserved in time from it’s days as one of South East Asia’s busiest trading ports. I was privileged to call Hoi An my home for just over a year. As a visitor I will only ever understood a fraction of the activity that keeps the streets and waterways alive. I wanted to capture and share some of the sights that inspired me during my time in this historic town.

Danang International Fireworks Competition 2013

Danang International Fireworks Competition 2013

The only thing better than a fireworks show is a fireworks competition. (Leslie Horn – Gizmodo.)

The event is regarded by many as the biggest and best fireworks competition in the world. The video captures some of the scale of the spectacular fireworks and the excitement of the booming city of Da Nang, Vietnam.

Teams from USA, Russia, Japan, Italy and Home Team Da Nang competed in the event with the Melrose Pyrotechnics team from the USA taking the grand prize.

Chapter I: VIETNAM

Here’s the first chapter of our Asian adventure.
We spent six days in vietnam.
Arrived in Ho Chi Minh City we stopped few days then we went down to Can Tho in the Mekong Delta, stopping first at Cu Chi. Last step was Chau Doc, where we boarded for Cambodia.
What impressed me the most of Vietnam were friendliness and smiles and smiles of Vietnamese, as well as beautiful landscapes that leave you speechless. I literally fell in love with this country.
